I moved into a SHO home after completing inpatient treatment and being homeless in October of 2007. It is now January of 2011, I am still living in a SHO house and loving every minute of it. I have acquired several good friends who are SHO residents who are also long term sober buddies and some who are still short term sober buddies, witch is probably been the main key to my sobriety. Having clean and sober friends and learning together with them how to do sober activities together and have fun doing them is the biggest hurdle I have had to overcome in staying sober. SHO requires us as residents to do meetings with in the inter organization house members and also requires us to do Volunteer work together every month as well as attend outside meetings together. So weather I liked the individuals I lived with at first witch I did not, I was forced to spend time with them and learned to enjoy and care for certain personalities and people I would have never associated with. My alcoholism is very much a social disease so it has been a perfect fix for me.

SHO organization officers have been an extreme help to my life style and well being I actually got into some trouble with the law after getting sober witch had nothing to do with alcohol. But even still the SHO organization and officers worked with me and my attorney to present a case on how much better person and productive part of society I am now after being in a SHO home resident for I believe 1 year by the time we went to court. They even went to court with me to speak on my behalf. Witch helped my case tremendously to say the least!!!

SHO organization also has helped place a few my friends who are residents in the houses, into new jobs and careers. Myself I am a Building Contractor and the SHO officers and organization helped to find me work for my company when times were tough and I was out of work with nothing to build.

All and All my experience at and with Serenity Homes of Oregon or as I call it SHO has been GREAT and a LIFE SAVER as well. I should be thinking about moving on to my own place, But this house I live in is so comfortable and safe, I'm not sure I want to leave. I recommend this sober living environment and organization to anyone with any kind of ADDICTION.
